Draft of the Final Declaration of the 1st
Joint Conference of
Poverty Elimination and Sustainable Development
We, participants in the First Joint
Conference of Poverty Elimination and Sustainable Development held
on 16-17 January 2007 in Tehran, who along with representatives of
International Bodies , NGO’s and Iranians residing abroad attended
this Conference at the kind invitation extended by H.E Seyed Reza
Nayeri , distinguished head of the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation ,
express our full satisfaction regarding the poverty elimination
plans implemented by the Islamic Republic of Iran and specially the
wide scale supportive and humanitarian services rendered in Iran as
well as other countries of the world.
We, participants express our desire and
stress our global commitments towards promotion of cooperation and
joint humanitarian and supportive efforts with the purpose of
identifying the root causes of poverty and eliminating this
unpleasant phenomenon as a necessary pre-requirement for realization
of sustainable development in all societies , as referred to in the
paragraph C of the Millennium Declaration of the United Nation.
We , participants , believe that
revival of culture of self-belief and protection of the high status
of the family unit can prepare required ground for implementation of
the objectives reflected in the policy of poverty elimination and
creation of stability and balance within the poverty and crisis
stricken families . In this context , we also believe that promotion
of capacities of the poor families and creation of equal
opportunities for them can be used as effective mechanism for
protection of human dignity within these families in order for them
to enjoy equal social and economic opportunities.
We, participants, emphasize effective
cooperation of all people in the societies from all walks of life,
the private sector and Non Governmental Organizations for
elimination of poverty and implementation of development plans as
well as promotion of humanitarian and cooperative culture.
We, participants, believe that goal
oriented and comprehensive approach for meeting the material and
spiritual requirements of all human beings and further attention to
human rights and justice in a manner which addresses all material ,
spiritual and living requirements of people in the poverty
elimination plans may facilitate and stabilize the poverty
elimination process and promote the sustainable development. We also
believe that application of since oriented poverty elimination
process based on scientific and technical methods may further assist
humanitarian organizations and institutions in their quest for
elimination of poverty.
We, participants, believe that the
harmony among international and Non Governmental Organizations of
the world in giving priority to the implementation of poverty plans
in those countries which are suffering from lack of the primary
infrastructures and economic development can control the poverty as
an unpleasant global problem and prevent its further spread in the
world.
We, participants, believe that exchange
of experiences and indigenization of the successful experiences in
this respect can provide required social grounds for employing
talents and capacities of every country in controlling the poverty
and ensuring suitable sustainable development given requirement of
each country . For the same purpose the Permanent Secretariat of the
Conference will continue its work in the Islamic Republic of Iran,
and we announce our preparedness for holding bi-annual meetings of
the Conference on rotary bases with coordination of the Secretariat.
We, participants, believe that the
comprehensive and supportive services rendered by the IKRF at
international level are of paramount value and can be served as a
good example for other humanitarian organizations.

Foreword
Imam Khomeini Relief
Foundation (IKRF) has a mission to provide supportive, livelihood
and cultural services to the needy and the deprived people in the
country and abroad in order to meet self-reliance, strengthening and
human growth while keeping their dignity. It also has constructive
interactions in fostering the culture of sacrifice and donation,
helping and boon with the cooperation's of noble charity
organizations and benefactors, and applies the amenities and
capacities of other charity organizations, serving the deprived, and
transfers its experiences pleasantly to others.

grounds in tapping the amenities and potentials of Institutions and

Making grounds on extraterritorial activities promotion of the IKRF
in alignment with providing an active presence regarding
international supportive programs

NGOs and benefactors of other countries in the field of
poverty-eradication while keeping dignity
Attracting asset facilities of the International Institutions so as
to assist the families under the coverage of the IKRF
Strengthening the international cooperation's of the IKRF and
foreign NGOs, active in the fields of relief and support, and
patronization
Making grounds to attract material and spiritual assistances and
participation of the Iranians, living abroad
Introducing the function of the Emdad Committee, and making
necessary grounds for common cooperation in the various fields of
interests
Preparing necessary fields to foster the culture of sacrifice and
boon through coordination and cooperation among the Iranians living
abroad and other compatriots
Applying the mental capabilities, designs and plans of the Iranians
living abroad in the fields of relief, considering their experiences
and knowledge in this regard
Encouraging the Iranians, living abroad to invest in plans and
projects of their hometown cities and provinces
Making grounds to execute the relief plans and programs in the
country with the personal guidance and management of Iranians
Making grounds to
attract the Iranian’s real-estates in the country and dedicating
them for the relief activities . the Iranians, living abroad
